The World of Trip-hop with . . . Portishead!

Just sharin' the love. Big ups to the band and Beth Gibbons for her strong, sensual alto. These songs have haunted my dreams*--but hopefully that does not discourage you.

Here are three of my favorite songs:

*This song below tormented my sleep last night. To keep it brief, I was involved in global warfare in which the only weapons available were non-gunpowder weapons. Simply meaning, the dream was takin' back to the olden days. Times of classical Greek warfare: the phalanx, the cavalry charge, hammer n' anvil tactics, and the flank. However this was spiced up a bit with the absurdity and chaos of Warriors-like strategies. So, imagine, millions of individuals lined up, coast to coast of the United States, with the smell of fresh flesh and sharpened swords, and the intent to obliterate and devastate the Earth and it's peoples like a rampant infection. . . .and the only sound you heard in this 'movie' was the video below.

Quite freaky.

I loves the mental-hospital feeling of this video. But, I'll leave it up to you for the interpretation (below are the lyrics).

Portishead - Only You
We suffer everyday, what is it for
These crimes of illusion, are fooling us all
And now I am weary and I feel like I do

It's only you, who can tell me apart
And it's only you, who can turn my wooden heart

The size of our fight, it's just a dream
We've crushed everything I can see, in this morning selfishly
How we've failed and I feel like I do

It's only you, who can tell me apart
And it's only you, who can turn my wooden heart

Now that we've chosen to take all we can
This shade of autumn, a stale bitter end
Years of frustration lay down side by side

And it's only you, who can tell me apart
And it's only you, who can turn my wooden heart

It's only you, who can tell me apart
And it's only you, who can turn my wooden heart
