Future Legends: Now Sounds of the Long Beach Bloodline
June 12, 2010
4 p.m. – 9 p.m.
East Village Arts District

Comparable to the Saddle Creek scene in Omaha, Neb. that produced Rilo Kiley and Conor Oberst, Long Beach has its own distinct sound and armory of musicians to refine it. Future Legends: Now Sounds of the Long Beach Bloodline, as the free, all-ages June 12 event is titled, is a sampling of that very combination. Performers will play in the East Village Arts District, at First Street and Elm Avenue, on an outdoor, solar-powered stage.

July 2nd, 2010 on Atlantic Avenue in Bixby Knolls
This will be a perfect holiday weekend kick-off. Be Lady Liberty or Uncle Sam and celebrate in Bixby Knolls. First Fridays attendees are no longer just spectators but active participants! People are encouraged to bring something to stick on our new "Leave Something Behind" collage. Post a penny, photo, leaf, hair pin, cuff link, heirloom, or anything in your pocket to create a unique abstract collection. Also, bring your creativity for our community art piece where you pick up the pen and draw, sign your name, write a poem, or leave your mark. Stop by the First Fridays Information Table from 6:30pm - 8pm, located on the northwest corner of Bixby & Atlantic Ave, where you'll find info about First Fridays, maps, business info, and restaurant recommendations.

When the businesses start to close, "after hours" begins at Nino's Italian Restaurant for the newest feature, "drink and draw." Come in with your inspiration from the night, relax and enjoy a beverage, grab a sketch pad and pen, and draw your buddy or the scene all around you. Dine on Art-Lantic Avenue at one of our tasty restaurants then grab the Big Red Bus (6:45p at Nino’s Italian Restaurant) that will transport you venue to venue from designated stops at the participating businesses.

@Evolver Long Beach Network
We have some great video ideas for the future, and are looking for collaborators to help shoot: upcoming events (Spores, other events), and 15-20 minute features for Reality Sandwich in Long Beach. We can edit, or collaborate on editing if you wish. http://www.realitysandwich.com

We are also seeking submissions for
"The LB Evolver Mixtape" project, which will be a digital download that features Evolvers from Long Beach. This would give artists exposure to a much larger network of 100K viewers / month at RealitySandwich.com, plus the 4K plus members of Evolver.net. The content would be made available for online donation to a number of community projects that contributing artists suggest.

Photographers are also needed for upcoming events, like our workshop, and poetry performance at GLB Fest, and upcoming spore events. We have a couple great photographers in our network (Leah and Angie...wow!) But a couple more volunteers with SLR-type cameras are needed, as we have a busy summer coming.
