First BTS of 2009!

I may be halfway across the country, but I am still very very excited about the first Break The Silence Open Mic of the year!

The first open mic of 2009 will feature the melodic, hypnotic, hip-swaying sounds of Canela Negra, and the talent, fire, and imagination that always comes from the open mic sets. Wish I could be there.

For those of you who aren't, SIPA's putting up a fundraiser event:

For The Kid In You

"Who is hosting this party?
This party is going to be hosted by Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA). SIPA is located in Historic Pilipinotown and its mission is to enhance the quality of life of Filipino Americans and other communities through youth development, health, economic, and social services.

Why is SIPA hosting a party?
Good question. SIPA is throwing this party for two reasons. The first reason is to get the college Pilipino organizations from the SoCal area to come together and have fun. There aren't many events that try to do that. The second reason is that we want to create an awareness about what SIPA does for the community. The funds raised from this party will go towards creating better programming for the youth of the surrounding communities."
